So I recently added an exhaust and K&N air intake on my 2013 ford taurus sho and was told that I need to re-tune my car or it is bad for the engine and runs the risk of blowing the pistons. Is this true or am I good without re-tuning my car?

Whoever told you that, is laughable.

No harm. At all.

However, you're truly NOT benefiting from those add ons (primarily the exhaust) without having tuned for them.

CAI's have consistently not proven to do much.

No need to retune for any intake/exhaust mods. But if you add high-flow downpipes, that really changes the nature of the flow, and you would definitely want to re-tune. Most tuners do not charge to retune for such "minor" mods.

Awesome! Thanks guys for the replies! So adding a CAI and the exhaust wont mess with my Air Fuel Ratio to the point where it will start running lean then?

Do you already have an aftermarket tune or are the intake/exhaust mods all you have done? If you do not have an aftermarket tune from a reputable tuner, GET ONE. That would do a zillion times more for performance than the exhaust/intake mods. If you already have a tune, as others mentioned, contact your tuner and see if they recommend adjustments based on your other mods.
