I just got my copy in the mail. I will scan it and post it next week. But for all you Eco-SHO owners this is important. TSB 10-17-3 updates TSB 10-5-6

TSB 10-17-3 concerns Front Brakes Intermittent Grunt or Grinding.
Models affected:
Taurus and Taurus SHO Built on or before 28 Jul 2010

Taurus SHO w/PP Built on or Before 10 Aug 2010

The fix: If your model has the noise the fix is to remove and replace the rotors, pads, and anchor brackets. THE PADS WILL NOT BE REPLACED on the SHO PP, just the Rotors.

The Part Numbers:
BB5Z-2001-A Brake Kit except SHO PP
CB5Z-1125-A Rotor
BB5Z-2B292-D Right Bracket SHO
BB5Z-2B293-D Left Bracket SHO
BG1Z-2B292-A Right Bracket SHO PP
BG1Z-2B293-A Left Bracket SHO PP

Thats wild, i just noticed noises the other day. I have listened for them since. It seems like i only hear them when the brakes are still cold from the first or second brake.

I've been hearing that grinding too intermittently but if there's a TSB than I will advise my dealer and hopefully it will be fixed.

Is this going to be an eventual problem on all our cars... TSB also applies to FLEX.

I have 11K on my Brick and no brake issues yet.... I drive aggressively, but don't ride my brakes.

Waiting for brake Rotors

Took my SHO in last Wednesday for the TSB on the brake noises and got a call from the dealer tonight that the new rotors are on backorder from Ford. It isn't clear when the rotors will be available. I can't believe that the rotors are back ordered given the range of vehicles the TSB applies to! Hopefully Ford will pick-up a portion of the rental car.

Mine are being done right now. They said delivery was going slow to me also so we are all waiting on the parts to arive. I do not have a rental but if we go past a week I will request one. I had thought I will be missing this problem but I caught it last week suddenly. They claimed there was no safety issue with this TSB though and that is good. The service manager said the brakes would not fail ..just sound like they will.

I dropped my car off at noon yesterday for this issue and a few other minor issues and they just called me and told me the car was ready.

Got the car back. Had to argue with the service writer because they replaced the pads on the car, which it says NOT to on the TSB for SHO with PP.

So the tech just assumed it was a base SHO with no options and put on the regular pads. I had a coworker drop me off, and was not about to wait for them to put the OE pads back on, so I just asked for them back.

Clicking noise is gone too.

After the dealer having my car for almost a week, it turns out that the rotors back ordered around the country and will not be available until mid -november. So I 've got my car back and learning to live with the grinding sound. Interestingly the tSB also applies to the Flex and some Lincolns.

Hmm this may just be the one problem I have not had with my car. Interesting.

Haha... scratch that! Felt this from right front on a trip up to Maine yesterday. Almost like a slow ABS.. sort of. But it was pretty loud and pronounced. I'm not going to bother having it fixed at this point.

Same news and same situation. Waiting and have the car back. They did reprogram the transmision chip, whatever TSB that is ..getting them mixed up now. I'm glad we don't have a too many TSB so far. They are troublesome ones though.

I have been hearing the grinding sound on my car, but usually only the first few stops of the day. Also, since there are times that my car may not get driven for several days, normally I always get the grinding when first driven...will call the dealer today for advice and a heads up on the TSB. Thanks.

I have driven my SHO about 200 miles since this TSB has been done. So far the sound is gone and the brake feel is noticeably better.

Same here, only when cold and first few stops.

I just started getting the same thing this weekend. I am right at 8k on mine.

First stop is horrible, second is less so, third is better, by the fourth, it is all but gone.

Had the braking TSB done about 250 miles ago. So far I really notice the difference but I reserve final judgment until I have at least 8000 miles on these brakes since the originals did not exhibit problems until around then.
