When I bought the car, the trunk lid was in sad shape. Few rust holes, high mount LED didn't work, spoiler was cracked, and the lock was busted out because he needed stuff out of the trunk, and couldn't find the key.

Found a guy near by parting out a green SHO with a trunk lid that was near perfect.
Pulled the old one off (removed both bolts from each side of the opening hinges, disconnected what I needed too, pulled the old one off and put the new one on.

Problem is now I can't find a happy medium between the trunk closing and the remote release letting go.

When driving, the trunk lid shakes on the left front (when looking at it from the back of the car forward). I can see the weather stripping on the entire left, but the trunk on the right is very tight.

Is there any trick to adjusting this thing properly? I've tried what I can, and am out of ideas.

Have your looked at those torsion springs in the trunk. There is one for each side. For each one there are 3 hole-slots in a bracket mounted to the body, one on each side. The end of each torsion rod has a bend that fits into one of these slots. Move the bend to the hole that give you the most resistance (spring), and your release will work better. Make sure both sides are alike (in the same hole location).

Yea, I saw those. But for the life of me, I haven't been able to get them moved. I have tried taking the trunk lid off and pushing the hinges down to take the pressure off, but I can't get them to budge.
Any suggestions on how to move them?

Take a small piece of pipe, climb into the trunk and lay on your back, and put the pipe over the end of the bent torsion spring, and with brute force, move it to the notch you want (probably the top one). No easy way, and be very careful.

Ok, give it a shot this weekend. I'll bring my remote with me in case I lock myself into the trunk (which I'm sure will happen if I don't have the remote! LOL) The trunk rattling when I go on a bumpy road gets annoying, especially seeing how most of the roads in Northeast Wisconsin are junk to begin with, then with them cold, they get worse.

Thanks!
