Trunk Latch Broke

The metal that holds my trunk latch mechanism broke and was causing an annoying squeek over bumps. So i took the mechanism off and the metal that is holding the latch to the trunk lid is broken off. i asked my buddy who also has a 94 SHO about it and he said the same thing happened to his. But he just welded it back. I don't know if i can do this because the piece that has the bolt welded to it is completley broken off. Any suggestions on how to fix this. Its tied shut now.

Best bet would be a junk yard. But if you ask SHOtime (Eric), i'm shur he can sell you all the pieces needed. He has a parts car with the parts you need. AND he is in Mass/RI.
