I am helping a friend swapping a 91 SHO into a 1932 Ford Pickup, and we need some guidance.

The car ran when the motor and trans was pulled. Well, Tex, the car owner, is legally color blind and when he trimmed some wires to spice the harness, all the wires didn't necessarily get back in the right places.

So, fast forward to today, we purchased an NOS harness from a 1992 and are trying this again. We are not sure that in our testing that we didn't fry the computer.

Is there a way to test the computer? Is there anyone near Ashboro, NC that has a car that we can check our computer on, or is willing to give us a hand getting this one running?

Thanks in advance.

the easiest way is to swap in a known good pcm. there are several available in for-sale threads on this site. you will need the 3 or 4 character 'code' for the pcm you have to get the right one.

Yes you can check the computer but why would you, so you can burn another one?, even though that one is probably fine, I would do it by checking the correct voltages to different components. But before all that, we need more details. I wouldn't buy another one until your wiring is sorted.

You really don't need to splice any wires to do a swap, can you give us more details? you only have a few wires going to the cluster, fuel pump, cruise, EVAP purge etc. The rest is all in the engine bay, that's why a lot of people like the swap.

I need more details on what was cut, extended or spliced. But you have to go from your basics. Before you fry another ECU, disconnect every possible plug in the engine to each component on the engine bay specifically the coil, cam, crank, o2's, runner controls, IAC, MAF, TB.

Then go to you basic stuff. Does the pump turn on? (you should hear the click on the CCRM). If it does, check if your plugs are wet, then you at least know the injectors are firing. Next check spark. I'll assume your timing is right so, next check your grounds. One near the computer, one near the trans (going from memory).

I've burned a CCRM before because one of my extended wires had a bare spot and grounded out but the ECU was fine even from that short.

Here is wiring diagram. There is some pinout charts on this website. Like said disconnect computer and check. Watch putting meter probes in the computer pin holes. Some probes too large and will make the computer not make good connection.
Curious what engine and trans are you using. Also did you make it RWD or make it FWD with the SHO trans.
