Recently replaced the ECM, O2's and Throttle Positioning Sensor. Tonite when I tried starting it the dash lites when dim and it seems like power was being sucked out of it from somewhere. A couple times it would turn over and just keep cranking. Finally, it sputtered and started. Once running it seemed okay until I came to stop light and the idle was really bad. Oh, the Tach wasn't working either. I plan on doing the paper clip test tomorrow.

The battery and alt. are fine:salute:

Nope.

No CPS signal = NO SPARK

The tach signal is a composite signal that needs the PIP signal, the CID signal, and all three coil drive signals. It is generated in the DIS module.

Fix your primary power problem first. That includes the battery and cables/connections as suspects. Dim lights while trying to crank indicates you're either loosing too much voltage across a high resistance or that your starter is pulling too many amps.

The shop called me and said it was the CAM Sensor. They said 1.2 hours to R/R the part. I looked up the part on rockauto.com and it was quite a bit less, but what raised my eyebrows was it said sensor only. I don't have the time to fart around with so I told them to do it.

I am guessing the TACH will be fine once the sensor is replaced. It worked most of the time.

The scan tool at Auto Zone never brought up a Cam sensor problem.........

That is what I meant, Cam sensor.. Sorry I was not clearer. This is not the only
factor, but no tach means cam sensor 99 percent of the time. I have one I will
send you postage due, if you want.. Cowsareholy gave it to me free, you can have it free if you need it.. :woohoo:
