I have a 91 mtx and im having some problems. My car had always made somewhat of a whisteling sound in second gear but on my way home today i could not get it into first or second, and third and fourth now also make that same noise. Also when driving in gear or even gliding in nuetral my car makes a major ticking/ grinding noise... i figured it hase something to do with my transmission or my clutch. If it is one of he two i also have a 93 mtx parts car and i was wondering if what i would need was compatible... Please let me know if you have any help or advice.

Thanks, Josh

Does your car still have the cable shifter, or have you upgraded to the rod shifter?
Sounds to me like it's your clutch/throw out bearing.
Your 93 mtx has the same tranny/clutch, but if it's only your clutch/tob that's going bad, I would replace it with a new one unless the clutch/tob on the 93 is realitivly new.
Good luck.

i belive that i have the cable shifter, but i starded my car and it ran for about 10 seconds, then started it back up and now it wont even run in neutral when its parked. It just dies instantly. But i crawled under my car and it seams the rattling, grinding noise is comming directly from inside the transmission.
