If you don't have symptoms but want to work on the health of the engine(in a front 60 kind of way), you could perform the "Preventative front 60"....as I call it...This includes...

Cam seals(Timkin 1213n), cranks sensor(Wells SU-242), front main seal(I forgot the number). It should only run about $75.

Then you should have some money left for whatever codes you are worried about. Some codes can be negated for free. What codes are you getting?

and while you are there, that would be the time to do the water pump and timing belt...

Kind of pointless without knowing what the codes are.

If they are decent codes, I would fix those first. Your car will not up and die without a 60K, but we also don't know how many miles you have on it, and what the maintenance history is, how much you have to spend, etc...

More info needed before anyone can make a real reccomendation. :)

1990 SHO 82,000 miles. The only thing that I know of is the water pump and spark plugs have been replaced. It's burning oil from the smell but is running good.

Key on
CODE 81 Boost control solenoid - SSolenoids
AIRD solenoid - Solenoids and Air Injection
3.0L SHO - Inlet Air Solenoid - Solenoids

Memory
33 ALL - (O, M) EGR did not open/ respond during test or if memory code, did not open intermittently - EVP EVR PFE

Running Codes
21 Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor out of range - ECT
33 ALL - (O, M) EGR did not open/ respond during test or if memory code, did not open intermittently - EVP EVR PFE
77 System did not receive "goose" test
Running Memory
77 System did not receive "goose" test

The only one I can fix is the code 21. Gauge was not working.Pretty sure its the sensor. Swapped it with a spare one still not working. So I put an after market gauge for now. It's the mechanical type so I guess the dash will not work at the same time?? SHO is running at 240 which I think is a little high, but my fan is working properly..
Check engine light is off while driving, but ABS light is on. Haven't gotten into that yet. Brakes are surging when I stop. I would like to upgrade the brakes if I can get a good deal. Otherwise I will have the rotors resurfaced and new pads put in.
The steering wheel has some play in it and the cable shifter also has a play in it when in gear.. I have about $500 right now and can do the work myself.. Never done a valve adjustment b4, but there is no time the the present and I don't dive this car everyday. I drive a work van:)
