Well guys I took the trany out of the 92 again. I just put a clutch in it during thanksgiving. After clutch install the car wouldn't shift properly...the clutch was perfectly smooth...but it wouldn't go into gear half the time...and sometimes would almost go and pop out.

So now the tranny is split on the work bench...what am I looking for? everything looks fine to me nothing obviously out of place, bent, burnt, etc.?? How do you fix what u don't know what is broke?

Any help would be appreciated... thanks in advance guys

I would hate to think that you skipped pulling the slack out of the clutch cable before you took the transmission out again. Did you do that?

I think so. I pulled the pedal back all the way ..it clicked 3 times. I have a rod shifter, so there is no adjustment there. I have it apart on the bench and see no real problems. all synchros look good, so do all the shift forks, no bends, uneven wear spots, broken teeth, etc. some of the bearings have wear on them though..I will look a little closer at them.

Any help from someone who has went through the tranny would be helpful. I just don't understand what is wrong.

When I did the clutch I replaced all wear items except the throw out bearing fork. I had the flywheel reground, etc. I drove it a while and the clutch seemed wonderful, just the car wouldn't shift very easy, I thought maybe I bent some shift forks from driving it so long when it needed a clutch, (the throw out bearing wasn't releasing all the way sometimes). But that doesn't seem to be the case.

The car would shift easier at higher rpm's when on the gas fairly hard, however normal intown driving was impossible.

Again any help would be appreciated. Thanks beer
