transmission problem

a while back i lost 3rd and 4th gear while driving home. a week or two later i lost 1st and reverse. does this mean i blew my tranny? it never grinded before.

The gears in the manual transaxle are quite tough. It sounds more like your shift linkage or actuation forks within the trans are damaged. How much force do you use to get the shifter into gear?

actually my freind owned it before me and i only drove it for a day or two before this happened. he thought he was a race car driver so it wouldnt of surprised me if he shifted as hard as he could.
