For all you experts, mechanics, and plain old sho enthusiasts.. my transmission is going soon and I was wondering if anyone could give me a definate quote on a rebuild.. by local shops or by Ford or anyone. Unless I find a buyer or end up parting the car, I think it will have to been done sooner or later..

If you bring it up to us, we can give you a couple options:

1. We have a good used ATX out of a red '94 with just over 100K that was rebuilt about 10K ago, $1200 installed.

2. We can install a Ford rebuilt tranny with their 3/36 warranty for $2400 installed.

Turn-around time on the used tranny would be about 3 days after you drop it off. On the Ford unit, we'd need about a week advance notice to get it ordered and delivered.

If either interests you, get in touch: http://www.nesho.com

I would only buy a used rebuilt atx if you knew exactly how it was rebuilt and by who. I just got a bulletproof atx to handle FI for less than 2k. at $1,200, you are saving some, but you dont exactly know what you are getting. A stock rebuild with shift kit and everything for a step below FI would run about 1,500 i bet at the shop I went to. Think about it and do some more research!!!

wow thats a pretty good deal... 600 bucks for a atx R&R! wowzers

you think that is good I know someone that only charges $275 for a MTX clutch job on a SHO, and $400 for R&R of a gen2 ATX tranny. Plus any broken/rusted/wornout parts that is.

I'd second having a full rebuild done by someone or a smaller shop that takes the time to really do it up right with all the know fixes out there. I know someone that puts in 20-30hours of time per ATX rebuild but thats just cause he overly meticulious about every specification for every part.
