Hi,
I have a 98 SHO with the torque converter code, p1744. I've had this code for several thousands miles now, I've noticed the slight slipping and the higher than normal RPM while cruising. Everything else seems fine besides that, now the other day my overdrive stopped working, O/D light started to flash after a bit of highway driving. Is that a sign of the transmission going out? Or is it something else entirely. I haven't had a chance to take it in and have the code pull again. Car has 103K miles on original transmission. Thanks.

I would say yes the tranny is toast. The OD light flashing is a tranny trouble code. Unfortunately no one knows how to interpret it. I do know it will start to flash when the tranny fluid hits 300F.

I went and had the transmission replace with the ford reman unit, is there a break-in period of some sort? should I be babying it? if so how long?
