Does anyone have a write up on how to swap trans/change clutch on the garage floor? I would get the SHOnut video but he is not shipping until after the convention and I would like to have my new trans in before the convention. Questions I need answered:
1. Where are the plans for the engine holder?
2. How do you support the car when the subframe/trans assembly are removed?
3. How high does it need to be off the ground for it to slide out?
Thanks

It might just be easiest to make your own measurements and make a wooden support accordingly, which is what I did.

Use jackstands with wood and place them right behind the rear subframe bolts on the body rails.

Just jack up the car as far as you can and support the car by the method in answer #2. That'll give you enough room to pull the tranny.

yeah just make some 4x4 supports to hold the motor up dont worry about renting some engine brace or lift etc. check shotimes.com for a write up ..
the job is rough . i recommend having somebody with you to help.. also expect to be doing this for about 10 hours at least being that you've never done this before . also ive learned this the hard way . buy your motor mounts and tranny mounts ahead of time before you do this job.. because they are hard to get a hold of at the parts store.. and not only that if you order them sometimes they arent even the right ones. so i recommend ordering them on shonutperformance.com or midwestsho.com to avoid the hassle.. and if theres anything else thats buried that u even think might need replaced just get it and replace it ..
