What's up all. I just recently purchased a 91' SHO w/108k on it for $200. The car is great except there is a problem with the trans. It is hard to get into 2nd gear and REALLYhard to get inot first. The rest of the gears were o.k. while driving. The clutch seems to be o.k. but I am not a manual trans expert. Any ideas on what it could be? Or info that I might have forgotten? Thanks!!!!

Is this condition present with and without the engine running? Any vibrations in the clutch pedal with the engine running?

This could be a problem with the 1-2 Synchro (internal to the tranny) or even blocking rings..

It is either a slack clutch cable (adjust by lifting up on the clutch pedal with 10 pounds of force) or worn pressure plate and throwout bearing interface (new clutch time).

It is still really hard to shift when the vehicle is off bu there is no vibration in the clutch at any time. I thought that it could be the synchro but if it were that wouldn't I be able to double clutch and get it into gear?

Thanks for the info guys and keep it coming.

Turned out to be the presure plate. It's gonna cost me $500. Not bad though. 91' SHO w/108k for $900. Cant wait to drive it!!
