-my daughters '97 G3 has started acting stupid, and no one can figure out the cause. maybe someone here has had the same issue. it happens when it shifts up after going into gear and on hills before it down shifts or as it shifts back up. its like a vibration and you can feel it in the car and steering wheel and it seems to only be coming from the drivers side and sometimes it makes a noise like something slapping the floorboard. its been doing it about 3 months now, and ive had some techs look at it. they say its not a motor mount, which i immediatley thought it was. then i had a guy say it was an CV joint in the axle and that that was common when they went out. so i put a new one in......still does it. it seemed to have helped some, but still does it. anyone experieced this before or heard of it??? thanks in advance for any thoughts/help......:thankyou:

nope, all fine.

not being rude, but , uh, in the Gen 3 V8 maint & trouble shooting....yes.
Well, to be honest, you said it was your daughters gen3, and the way you wrote your post it made it seem like you were just wondering if we knew anything about other model gen3's. It's not always safe to assume.

yes, i agree, but then also i'm not one of those who ask questions about other cars on a car specific forum. and my daughter is a straightliner, 1/4 mile at a time. she likes a sho being different at the track.

Balljoint, tie rod, and subframe bushing.

Have you actually taken them out to inspect the subframe bushings?

It really REALLY sounds like one.

-no diddnt take them out. just checked to make sure they were all tight. left turns also have seemed to make it do some weird things also. now a tech is thinking something in the differential. guess going to have to loosen the subframe and check the bushings. had the control arm loose when put in the axle. really didnt play with the joint, but it seemed fine. gonna have to spend the day with it.....

I'm throwing some money around the sho at present and have a similar shake/rattle/roll.
Please post when you resolve the issue.
thanks

They will feel tight, but I'd almost put money on it that it's those bushings.

-took down some of the bushings yesterday. look ok, like they had been replaced at some point, but did not see any reason why they would cause the problem. 351: any insight of why they might be the culprit yet look ok?????
