Someone here mentioned that upgrading to an later model manual tranny would bolt right in to my 90 mtx.. I can't find the post.. Is this true.. thanks. Ronald. Also any other upgrades off of other newer models will bolt on for my 90 mtx.. thanks. Ronald.

All the year MTX tyranny's will work on all MTX's, only thing different is the shifter. 91.5 and up have a rod shifter. Much better than the cable shift. It can be swapped to a older car too.

so what seems to be the best to work.. and i'm assuming a larger flywheel and larger clutch right? Or can you change the flywheel size and clutch in the 90 sho. thanks.

All the MTX trannys are the same. In the beginning (insert kettle drum/2001 a space odyssey sound) Ford put an undersized clutch in the car. There was a recall and at this point I think you would be hard pressed to find a tranny with the original undersized clutch still in it and working. If you do happen to have the original undersized clutch and flywheel, I would just buy a fidanza (9 pound) off of ebay for about 300 shipped and a stock replacement clutch (they are all the same size) from one of the sho vendors. In addition, since you are new to this board I would do a search about diff pins so you don't have to learn the hard way.

so.. i bought this car used.. of course. lol.. and the clutch seems fine.. but.. are we still talking possibly the o.e. size clutch in there and o.e. size flywheel.. or again.. Can i upgrade to something better.. Thanks.. you mentioned a part above.. and i'm wondering if that is a larger flywheel and clutch assembly or no.. thanks. and 2001 was a pretty quite movie..lol.. except for H.A.L. And the glowing red eye...lol..
