tranny temp sensor

my CEL came on, and the computer said i have a faulty transmission oil tempertaure sensor.... can get the part cheap, but where is it on the tranny, and how do i replace it...... someone told me the tranny needs to be dropped, but i cannot believe that.... some one please help...

Yup, that one's inside the tranny. If it's not causing any other drivability problems, I'd leave it alone. If it's causing your TC not to lock-up, then you're going to get less gas mileage and toast the converter faster.
