Well before I left the dyno day, the car was in the lot cooling down. When I parked it, I backed it into a spot next to the other SHO's and kept it out of the way of other cars leaving it in reverse. When I left, she started right up but couldn't get it out of gear. Freakin out - I was able to get it out. I pulled out of the parking lot granny shiftin. Got on the highway and went through all the gears with ease. When it came for 5th gear - she grinded and bad. I was able to get her home with out any further problems. Drove her a few more times since then and same problem with reverse.

I have the original tranny in my shed and sent it out to Portland Transmission for a check up. The guy called me back saying that $1600 should get it back to OEM. Now just like anyone else - I told him to hold on for a few days till I can come up with a decision. Did some research and found a company offering re-man tranny's for $745 with warranty. This is not including shipping or core charges which should put me at $1100.

So with that being said - looks like i'll also replace the clutch as well. Might as well seeing it hasn't been replaced in 3 years. I've been looking at the Spec stage 2 style.

With the holidays creeping up around the corner it looks like the car will sit till January when I order everything needed for the intake and tranny. I'm just happy that it will still move without giving me a problem.

I wouldnt count on the tranny being all of the problem. The T-5 is a good tranny, as long as you dont beat the total crap out of it.

If you do do a re-man, get a good clutch and relace the clutch cable. I have found that a stretched cable causes a lot of problems.

Replace the quadrant with an aluminum one also, the factory is plastic, BBK makes the cable and ajustable quadrant.

Thats one of the 1st things i do when i have owned Mustangs, replace the cable and quadrant.

If its the car in his sig then it has a t-45, not a t5. The t45 is pretty renown for doing this. If you dont mind going with a used tranny, Call Prestige Mustangs in Georgia and they will sell you a nice one used. I sell new parts for mustangs and when I cant locate a new part, I refer my customers to these guys. They are great people and usually have a couple hundred mustangs they are parting out. When I did my 5 speed swap on my 03 gt they provided a great tranny for me. Mine was a 3650 tranny but it was pulled out of a low mileage gt and performed flawlessly. It even arrived nice and clean too. Their number is 866-45STANG. Tell them Karson with Latemodel Restoration referred you. If I was you Id do that and save some money for the holidays. -Karson

The car is driveable - Just don't know when it will go boom. I have been driving it since the dyno day. With so many upgrades that the car is getting and with the holidays around the corner - i'm going to take my time in getting hte parts.

Here is a break down of what i'm getting:

Re-man T-45 w/ warranty
Spec Stage 2 clutch
Alum flywheel (prolly Spec)

For the Intake
Bulitt CAI
Aeromotive Fuel Rails
Rest of the odds and ends needed to swap it on.

I already the Steeda clutch cable and related parts. I try to stay away from BBK and UPR. I've had nothing butproblems with them.

damn sorry to hear that, You think the dyno did it in?? That was a sweet stang too...

The tranny had issues before going on the rollers. It use to pop out of reverse - now I just can't get it out. LOL I deff bent the shirt fork inside and I know its been like that for a bit. While driving it, whatever gear I was in, if I goosed the gas I could feel the tranny being loose like a bad ball joint. I deff know its not a bad ball joint because I just swapped in a alum drive shaft 4 years ago. I also had my rear rebuilt last summer and checked for play. There was some in the rearend but not much and it only got tighter once everything got replaced. With the car on the lift I was able to move the DS and heard the banging in the tranny which only told me that it was a matter of time. If I drove the car everyday - this would of happened last year. Thanks to having a company truck that I take home it was prolonged.

Check mounts too. If the driveline's moving around that can affect shifting / pop-outs on other cars, not sure on the Stangs.

Thanks Fred - that mount is the only one that isn't poly. LOL. Gonna order that when I order the clutch and flywheel.

I drove the car this past weekend to the feast on the hill. The car really feels like its falling apart. I also need to a steering column to the list. Seems like the bearing on the inside is shot.

Just another thing to add to the list.
