i have a 94 ATX car drives fine at first but it starts leaking tranny fluid after it heats up. i was told it was the pump that circulates the fluid which is supposed to be inbetween the motor and transmission. is there any truth to this? if so how hard would it be to change? maybe just disconnect all the mounts and slide the transmission back from the motor to access the pump? any help is appreciated.

You need to perform an inspection and determine where the leak is at. The pump is internal to the transmission and cannot be serviced as you described.

If your leak is evident at the junction of the engine block and the transmission bell housing, the leak is either the front input shaft seal or the torque converter seal. In either event, the tranny has to be pulled to repair.

Until you are able to tell us where the leak is visible, any further speculation is pretty worthless.
