Which tranny fluids should I use for a refreshed (blocking rings, seals, etc.)transmission? The video shows the need to soak the blocking rings due to the paper(?).

I recently changed to GM Synchromesh, but had negative results. Shifting worsened immediately.

I'm aware of all of the fluid discussion, but I want current advice for starting anew.

Thanks,
Tom

Yup in the inside of the newer blocking rings is a paper which needs to be soaked in ATF. A good choice for soaking is Mobil 1 ATF (NON-SYNTHETIC). During any new rebuild of the MTX (new synchro's and rings) you DON'T want to use a synthetic for the first couple thousand miles so the tranny can break in. Otherwise you're going to find your shifting very notchy.
