TPMS Issues(double checking)

So I have a 2010 and back in november I bought a new set of wheels and tires(with TPMS installed) from tirerack. Since then my TPMS refuses to program the new sensors. Even going so far as to have new ones sent out and put in, still the same problem. The tire shop even tried a different manufacturer and programming a sensor and it would not program either.

From what I have read from searching it seems as though its either a completely different style, which I dont believe and I do have the original tires and they verified they were the same style or seemed to be. Most people end up reusing the old sensors and that works for them. Just seems like they are coming up on 10 years old and that seems like a lot for them.

Any suggestions?

either the tire shop is getting the wrong sensors or they are not programming it correctly. they are really not that hard to program.

What year/model is your vehicle? It is possible that band style sensors were original to the car, and the supplied sensors are stem style. In that case, incompatibilities can occur. MAY be solved by changing the TPMS parameters directly to register the new sensors, as long as the MHz is correct and they are Ford compatible.

My shop was able to clone them so when i switched winter to summer they worked nearly immediately no light ever popped up and was able to get tourqe pro to show them on the list of pids

I believe 2010 was the only year of the band style tpms sensors before switching to the stem style in 2011.

I just had new tires installed today on my 2015 and the new TPMS sensors were recognized very quickly by the car. The low pressure light was on for about 10 seconds after I left the Discount Tire store then it turned off.

Okay I totally didnt notice all these posts on here, been a little busy with my other car as of late. I bought the wheels and tires off tirerack and they sent original sensors already on the wheels, and when they sent the second set they asked for the VIN to verify they would work.

I brought my old wheels to the tire place originally(when they wouldnt program), and if I remember correctly they verified the style of sensor they should be so. I belieive at least I could be totally wrong, it just seems they dont want to program or something. Is there an easy way for me to tell on the old wheels what style they should be.

Vehicle is a 2010 sho, dont believe its a PP.

Since your original tires will program, you must have the wrong sensors.

I do not know if the band style and snap in style are compatible or can be made compatible without modification or the use of aftermarket parts. From a dealer stand point, dont mix old and new OEM parts. Get the right parts.

If the shop has a good tpms tool, they should be able to read the frequency of the sensors. I bet you have the wrong ones.

Unfortunately without breaking down both tires sets (new and old) you can see anything externally. But you could get the part number off the original part to see what you do have.

Any chance you have a part number of the sensors if they are a Ford part?

Off hand no, what Ill do is bring one of the old tires and new tires back to the shop and just try to get a definite that they should be the same and report back!
