Does anyone know if this is 315 MHz? I have 4 sensors that are 315 MHz, but I want to be sure this is correct before I have the wheels and tires put together. The part number is 9L3T-1A180-AF. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I found some info that showed it was interchangeable with the 1A189 (TPMS-12) part number, which is correct for the 2011 Taurus. I'll update if this doesn't work.

Having gone through this with my 2010 yes, those are the correct ones for the 2011. Seems in 2010 they used the band style TPMS sensors and then in 2011 they switched to the valve stem kind (the ones you most likely have).

Are they both the same frequency? If so... can one use the new style with custom wheels on a 2010, using the original setting tool?

See something to this effect on Ebay.... but always suspicious. Just wish Ford had the same system as GM, where one can actually get current pressure readings for each tire.

Nope - You can only use the old band style with the 2010 model year. The logic (for whatever reason) has been flipped. So, if in 2010, the sensor was emitting a 0, it now emits a 1 for 2011. I tried the valve stems ones with 2010 - no go. Had to resort back to the band style for my 2010.

You would think that Ford would give the dealer some sort of program to switch this. Since the valve stem sensor will probably be with us longer than the band, it only lasted 1 production year, logic says that, hey, let's let the dealer change the program when new valve stems are installed! DUH!

Valve stem is supposed the "new" more efficient way. Before you had the sensor, the band, the clip etc... now just one valve stem, easier to get to and to replace (if defective). But I hear ya, all for 1 production year this complication.

I think the band style is 430 MHz from what I came across. Don't quote me though.

All sensors are 315MHz (black or blue will work in the band) and the black ones are the ones for the valves (there maybe just one type).

Shovinist, (awesome name btw)
Sorry for the newb question, but will any 20" rim be compatible with the tpms sensors, or do they need to be Ford wheels? Also, did you need the tpms tool to send the new sensor info to the car? If so, where is a good place to buy/rent/borrow it?

Thanks so much for all the valuable info in this thread. I can buy those sensors without worrying if they'll work on my 2011 SHO.
