torque converter

i was told that my torque converter bolts are loose. but i have no idea what this means, i'm taking it to get fixed tommarrow and i'm just wondering about what this should cost. also if it needs to be replaced what that might cost? and i was also told that it would affect the transmission slipping problem, can anyone tell me if this is true?

if the bolts are loose just tighten them up, if it needs to be replaced you are lookin at about $700
