So emailed GH about getting one of their TCs and they let me know I would need to send in a core as they don't really carry them on the shelf. Now being as my SHO is my dedicated kid mover/ grocery getter, I really cannot afford to have it down for too long a period of time. My question is, when looking at TCs should I go with the Ford OEM as a donor unit, or will a AutoZone provided unit at half the price suffice? Trying to plan out a lot of work for the car, so trying to make sure I'm not overspending on anything. Don't get me wrong, I want quality parts in the car, I just know it's called the "stealership" for a reason

Hey Scooby,

Same situation but different situation for me. Most of my car is built up to the point where I would be crazy not to put an upgraded torque converter in.
I reached out and got the same result so, I think the best bet for you and for me is to just buy a new one from Ford and send it to GH.
Now you know you have a new unit but also an upgraded unit at the same time.
In the meantime you still have the family truckster :)

Don't know if that helps your situation but that's my plan as of right now.

That was the way I was leaning. Too many times I've gotten the wrong part from the guys at the AZ store, really would hate to get the wrong TC. Also I have some sense of knowing the Ford unit will be reliable, vs unknown with AZ. Thanks for the reply!

Yeah, I think I'm just going to go with Tasca like I've done with the rest of my stock parts.

I run Tasca vs Ford Parts Giant - have had better pricing with FPG over Tasca. Worth a x- reference.

Yes but you need to compare shipping also. Sometime fpg is cheaper but when i do with shipping on both its still cheaper on tasca and their warehouse is pretty close to me

Agree and I also look for Tasca and others on ebay for even cheaper prices (or free ship) vs website pricing. There are several Ford factory part dealers on ebay and sometimes amazon. The ebay I can often get free shipping. I had 2 OEM items from quirkparts off ebay delivered this week for the '14 f150.
