I've lived here all my life, and up until today, there have been 2 that I've heard of.

Today we got hit by 3 of them by most accounts: http://gothamist.com/2010/09/16/sheets_of_rain_hail_pound_nyc.php

Power is still out in large swaths of Queens and Brooklyn still.

This is video I shot of the storm as it passed through Manhattan on it's way to dole out the harshness on Brooklyn and Queens.

I know a couple of you live in or near the affected areas; hope you're safe and sound.

FWIW, there were no tornadoes. Just macrobursts. One thing that is really hard to teach people is the fact that tornadoes have a damage path while macrobursts have an epicenter and radiate damage outwards... Much like what happened in NY.

If you search YouTube, there are a few videos of the funnel cloud touching down in Brooklyn.

I'm honestly shocked that there weren't more injuries, or more destruction given the density of the areas that were hit.

Looks like you got an EF0 and an EF1. From what I have read, it wasnt the tornadoes that did the damage it was the mAcrobursts that were the stars.

Sucks either way. Glad ya'll are alright!
