14.6 @ 109.6 mph (5,800 ft elevation - elevation calculator says that's a 13.4, however, Scott is pulling consistant 13.7's up here and we are very similar with me having lots of top end... Maybe he should drive my car).

I can't launch this car worth a damn! Snapped an axle on the first run shifting into 2nd... I'll make a post tomorrow with videos.

13.749 at 106.XX tonight at bandimere. Won first place for the evening and got a huge trophy. I'll post pics tomorrow, or you can just watch the vid that jason posts up. altitude correction says that's a 12.81 at sea level. Somedude, You have some modding to be doing, cause I'm going for 12's at this altitude.

Nice job, I would like to see the math on how much boost you would get at sea level. I can't imagine it would be more then 2 or the most 3 psi. I can't imagine that it will take a whole second off your time.

Scott - Nice!!!

Wish I could've made it down... But getting 3-4 hours of sleep every night caught up with me yesterday.

Hopefully Jason can get his launches under control and turn some fast times to go along with his fast trap speeds. :)

A whole second? That's like carrying an extra 1000lbs*.

*using the "100lbs=a tenth" theory.

half-way there, I think.

Scott, that is very cool!! I would have stuck around, but I was concerned about my car. Turns out the knock monitor was acting flaking (power or ground wire must be loose) and didn't realize I was hitting 15psi after tighting the s/c belt up until after I left. So I'm pretty sure the stumbling I was feeling was knock.

But I'm happy I went. 14.326 @ 104.1 beats my previous best time by a lot. If I'm doing the math right, that's close to a 13.4 at sea level. That was with a full tank of gas and the spare tire still in the car.

15 PSI? Man, I really need to try a new belt. I was only hitting 13 PSI last night on my way home. That's pretty ****** since I've hit 17 PSI on this setup in the past.

Just went for a little run after fixing the knock monitor and backing out a little timing. Only saw 13 psi.

Here's my best slip from last night

This is for a NA engine isn't it? An NA engine is going to fair out much worse in comparson than a boosted engine at altitude.

Sorry about the blurry pictures, but I'm on the right.
if You are having trouble reading it this is what it says:

Dial: 13.98
r/t: .067
60': 2.303
330: 6.062
1/8: 9.065
mph: 82.53
1000: 11.618
1/4: 13.749
mph: 106.24

Thanks for all the praise! Yes a whole second off of a 13 is what happens at sea level from 5,800 feet. And if you don't believe me, When I went to the SORC standing mile race to see toolman, I dropped my boost to 13 psi before I left colorado and at the lower altitude in nebraska, I was hitting 17 when I was hitting 13 here. that's 4 psi, and and not even a 5,800 foot altitude change...........

sorry to see you go yesterday terry but I'm glad your car is ok now!

Correct, NA and SC vehicles will see more of a loss at altitude than a turbo (as long as it is seeing the same boost at both high and low altitude). The SC has a fixed rpm spun at any given engine RPM, but the wastegate should be keeping the boost at x amount. Turbo's WILL run out of efficiency here, so there is a loss, just not as great.

Scott, I think that is the nicest trophy I've seen Bandimere give. All three of mine are the standard ones... One being bigger than the other two.

Nice trophy!

Also, when you were in NE, the alt there was around 2500-2800 ft. I lost about 3psi as a result of the elevation (coming from 700ft in Tulsa). So at sea level, you would see even more boost.

Both you have bad waste gates? Boost should be the same unless the turbo starts running out of efficiency at higher altitude.

Thanks Tim! I could not remember what the elevation was in Nebraska. I'm glad someone did.

Have you seen the size of my turbo lately? LOL! I'm pretty sure it is running out of efficiency... I want to upgrade it still, but I'm waiting on that at the moment.

My wg is a brand new TiAl 38mm unit, and it works flawlessly. Altitude will effect your boost, the same as cold weather will. Turbochargers work off of pressure ratios, so an ideal turbo for a sea level car will very likely not be the ideal turbo for a car operating @ 10k ft all the time. The nice thing for me is, I simply dial up more percentage on my EBC to compensate for the altitude, and I was back at the boost numbers I was liking.

Strings car, I really can not comment on, as I do not know the specifics of his setup. But the efficiency of a turbo will vary greatly from sea level compared to 5800+ft, so I would fully expect his boost characteristics to be effected.

Hey, you get to adjust your HP for altitude, so we get to adjust our boost! ;)
