Long time no see, sho fam. I was a member on this board in the early 2000s, user name was Toul.

I remember going to group meetups at inkertinkers place a few times. If anyone from back then is still around and has a good memory for specific shos ... I had a black on black 91 MTX 3.0, with a yellow powder coated extrude honed intake. Back then it was my second SHO, and I had bought it from a guy who lived somewhere around ballwin who had already done all of the things. Full length subframe connectors, extrude honed intake, 80 mm maf, chip, tokico struts, lowering springs, lightweight flywheel, better clutch, and a half dozen other things that I can't remember including a pretty good stereo.

I moved on shortly after killing a deer with my 91. Drove an 03 Subaru RT for a while, and I've got an 05 Volvo S40 T5 AWD now (and a 78 stepside 4x4 f150).

My volvos got 158k on it and I've been starting to look for a first Gen SHO to trade someone for.

I've got a line on a 1993 with less than $100,000 on it that's in fairly good shape, it at least has absolutely no rust. Fairly certain it's still got 1993 original Ford exhaust on it. Story from the guy that's only had it for a little bit that he bought it from a little old lady in Fenton. I looked at it today, power steering pump is 100% shot, and kind of feel like the front subframe mounts might be shot too? I think I remember that being a thing with these cars? This car's been completely non-modified. Looks bone stock radio included. Little bit of Bondo in the driver side door with cracking paint, and about a 5-in crease in the front passenger door.

I've been out of the SHO game for a long time. How are we doing for parts availability, OEM and aftermarket? Has it gotten any better or worse? Is anybody in the St Louis area still real active with their cars? Do we have anybody that does good work? I guess STLsho is out of the game? I do all of my own work now, with no issues and a good garage. But if I pull the trigger on this project sho, and replace my daily driver with it, it'd be nice to know we still have some sho friends active in the city to lean on for advice, opinions, and unused aftermarket parts clogging up their garages.

One way or the other, I think my mind's set on getting rid of the Volvo and getting a good condition sho. The thing that's irking me about this one that I found, is that it's an automatic. Test drove it tonight, if it had been a manual, we would have swapped titles then and there.

parts are hit and miss. if you are looking for oem or better not happening. The amount of cars has dried up and the profit motive to support them has also. We have still have a specialty vendor or two but some parts like crank sensors have become an issue. We are also seeing more electrical issues just due to age. This is more a play around car than daily transport. Welcome back

What he said.
Typical old car, anything can happen and drain your wallet.

You can read the information in the SHO Trader section if you want to post it here on the forum. If you are on Facebook, there is the SHO marketplace

Especially for 3500 with a new cps, dis, timing belt, coil, clutch, water pump, fuel pump, and a box with endlinks, wires, valve cover and intake gaskets, a bra, and a car cover!

Not a bad price at all.
