...Into the world of S/C!

For those of you who say it, I bought the vortech kit off ebay. I know the shaft driven system isn't the best set-up, but I will only be using around 5-6 PSI. Just enough for some serious fun and not have to worry about blowing third gear. Anyway, seems like a good price, as the blower along is about 1K more that what I got the kit for.

Anyway, just looking for some advice one a fuel system (it is stock right now). and if there are any tweecer RT files around here to help tune it.

BTW look for a classified ad for a Zex kit....

Well, the fuel pump perhaps. You might want to go to a 255lph maybe? I'm no expert but if you decide to go that route check my sig. :) If you upgrade your pump you'll want to upgrade your injectors also.

I'm sure that Josh can help you out with files, he's been really swamped lately so you might want to email him directly. I know he's also posted some of his pages on the forum in the not too distant past also.

Fred is also a great resource for info as is PanamaPat.

P.S. Best of luck with everything also. I'll be looking forward to reading the tales as they unfold for you. :)

You definitly need to atleast upgrade to a 190lph fuel pump and upgrade the injectors. 36s would probably be fine for 5 or so psi. sho-n-go has his injectors and fuel rail currently for sale that would definitly guarentee the fuel but you still need a pump

I am getting some bigger injectors (not sure the size) and the modified fuel rail to go with them from the seller of the S/C.

Would Bizzy's 255lph fuel pump be over ****?

No it will not be overkill. I ran a 255 for months in my stock 91 Probe before I put in FI. It ran fine with the 255. Beths fuel pump would be well suited for the boost and it would give her some $$$ too:D

If the injectors in question are from the SHO Shop, I wouldn't think twice about turning around and selling them - just do it. Not only are Vadim's injectors not worth the money you pay for them, but they are often very difficult to get finely tuned due to their funky slope (like the "butchered" 47.7# blower units).

The 255lph pump may not be overkill for the setup in general, but it will be overkill for the stock regulator. I would suggest that you consider dumping your stock FPR and upgrading to one of Josh's adjustable FPR kits for both peace of mind and added tuning ease. ;)

If you plan on keeping it at 5-6 psi the 190lph will be fine. Your SHO's getting the best christmas present of them all, BOOST :D

You'd think the 190lph would be enough, but I'm sure Josh would talk you into a 255lph. I would also go with his, soon-to-be-released high performance FPR which pressurizes both fuel rails. Like Adam said, the 255lph pump will not be overkill for the boost, just the stock FPR which is not that great of a piece to begin with. I would suggest a different FPR to get rid of the variable of tunining with the stock one. From talking with Pat, it is rather difficult to tune with it.

Injectors are a must as well. I will be running about 9-12lbs of boost, utilizing a 255lph pump, 44lbs injectors, and the new FPR from Josh. If I need more fuel via the injector, I can turn up the pressure via the new FPR and make the injectors perform as if they were a larger injector.

Blowing a gear is easier with power, but even easier with abuse. You'll be fine if you don't completely abuse the car ;)

Congrats on the plunge!! It did not take much convincing for me and I had a close friend tell me that he knew it was going to happen all along. He was right:D

If you have questions and you can't get ahold of the above noted people, you can always contact me on AIM or e-mail.

Welcome to the supercharged club Dr.Evil :salute: . By the way, I'll give you 30 days or less once your car is running with boost to change your mine to 9-12. ;)

I think Fred had good luck with the 240lph? over the 255. It's been a while so I forget all the permutations that drivetrain went through. Dump the stock FPR setup and crank the boost. :naughty:

It comes with 36# injectors. Will these be good enough or are 48# necessary? Also, will the 48# fit on a rail modified for 36#?

He is sending some reciepts with it, so hopefully they will tell me more about the kit.

Only 6 PSI? Then 36lbs will be fine. IIRC, Pat told me his 36lbs injectors started to limit him at about 380whp.

I'm running 42# injectors and am just fine with 9psi of boost. 36's should be just fine with only 6psi. Proper tuning with a WB O2 sensor will tell you.

I'm using the SCT tuning also. This stuff is so cool!
