I think that the po-po grill would make a difference....They made it for better cooling.

If I were you i'd pull the thermostat and see if it is stuck open. Also look to see what temp it is, maybe it is a 180? Robertshaw(autozone) sells a thermostat that is 192 instead of the 190 from FORD.

I'm running a 180 but its nice and warm in California.
