It has taken me much too long to give Tim any public credit since I bought SHOpala from him. So, without further ado about nothing, here you go, Mr. Tyner. I sent Tim a PM near the end of September saying I might be interested in buying the car, and he promptly replied with the details for which I had asked. Over the next solid month, I badgered him with questions, which were all answered in a timely fashion, and he spent a few solid hours of his time talking to me on the phone, never getting upset when I called him at 11 at night with a question, even though he gets up early every morning to serve as a firefighter and paramedic. He was always careful to accentuate the flaws of the car and to downplay its many virtues. The plan at one point was that he would drive the car down for some classes he wanted to take anyway which were being held here, and that he would then deliver the car to my house and we would give him a plane ticket home. This would have worked fine, except that he was then rescheduled for a different date to come to the class. We had already bought a ticket, and though the ticket was relatively inexpensive, Mr. Tyner decided that it was enough proof that I really planned to buy the car, and that he would humor us anyway. He drove from the Northeast corner of Oklahoma to Birmingham, Alabama just to deliver the car, without charging me any more than he was going to otherwise. He spent the night freezing in the car with a $3 blanket from Walmart, and then arrived at our house. He was an exemplary house-guest, of course, and showed me the car in detail. We then went to our bank to have a notarized check made for him, but they had no one certified to notarize checks on hand, so they sent us to another bank, which had the same problem. The third bank had someone, so we finally got the check, and we drove Mr. Tyner to the airport without feeding him lunch because there wasn't enough time before he had to catch his plane. After a bit when he got home, he offered to send me front and rear strut tower braces for free, and when I told him our mechanic shop said there was a small leak in SHOpala's gas tank, he threw that in for the price of shipping it, so he basically gave me two STBs and a gas tank for free after I effectively stole his car from him. I say stole because this thing is amazing. I wouldn't sell it for twice what I paid for it if I got the offer today. I have put just over 1000 miles on the car without a single hiccup, and the power, ride, shifting, stereo, and looks from passers by have been amazing. All things that cannot be said about many SHOs. To summarize my appreciation for Mr. Tyner, I will say that, were I to buy a car again, I would pay a significant premium simply for the privilege of buying it from Tim, because I know that I would be met with honesty, selflessness, generosity, and zero stress about time. Thank you, Mr. Tyner, I hope to have this car for as long as possible. I love it!
