OK, well, I am getting fed up with the occasional yet horrible ticking. I am wanting to yank off the rear valve cover and inspect it. Supposing that is indeed my problem, what all is involved in replacing the piece that the chain rides on? I am hoping that is all I have to fix...If so,
Do I need to tear into the front end as well, and remove the rear cam sprocket... then removing the camshaft...
Because I certainly hope not!

I will be doing mine tomorrow. I am pretty sure mine is the front head because I didn't have a problem until I replaced the front head. I will let you know how it goes tommorrow night.

The timing chain tensioner will cause more of a rattling, slapping noise during engine speed changes as the cam chains load and unload. A ticking is more likely from a lobe, shim or tappet.
