Recently I've began to notice a very mind rattle on start up. It doesn't happen at every start up, comes and goes. 36XXXkms on the clock and oil changed 3wks ago with 5w30 full synthetic and mobil1 oil filter. My question is how much rattle in "normal?"
TIA.

That was my first thought. First time doing an oil change myself on this car because of the pandemic. Looks like I may have to buy some FL 500s. Thanks.

I was using the Mobile 1 filter on my 2011 and had the rattle. Went with OEM filter and it eliminated the start up rattle. When I sold it with 130,000 miles on the rattle never came back. On my 2015 with 74,000 miles I have only used the OEM and no issues.
Good luck!

My 2015 does not rattle at all, so I would say zero rattle is what I would consider normal.

My 2011 had the rattle when I bought it with 102K miles. Rattle would go away after oil change and come back after about 1K miles. Drove it to just under 170K miles and sold it. Ran into guy who bought it two years later and he said it was still running great and hadn't had any issues since he bought it. So the rattle isn't an automatic death sentence, but if you still hear it right after a fresh oil change you might want to start saving up money for the timing chain and water pump.

Just changed the oil filter today and already noticed a difference. I used a fram XG10575 for now. Will change a fl500s when I do a full oil filter.
