how do you tighten a flywheel without having it move around and without having the flywheel tool used for this specific application?

thanks DP92

You don't really need any special tool. The bolts tighten up through the holes or they don't. Make sure you tighten them opposite, in 2 stages, with a good torque wrench.

Do you have it torn apart right now?

I'd recommend the clutch video from shonutperformance.com :thumb:

The 'special tool' is for making sure the DISC is lined up right inside the PRESSURE PLATE as you bolt it to the flywheel.

If you take your time you could eyeball it- the disc needs to be centered.

Hold the outer edge with your free hand. Use a rag to protect your hand.

I put the long bolt for the tranny near the starter in its hole and placed a small pry bar from the bolt to the teeth on the flywheel. Be carefully doing this you don't wanna mess up the teeth.

Hold the edge of it with a gloved hand or like Bank of SHO said use a rag to protect your hand. If you aren't strong enough to keep it still with one hand while tightening, have a helper hold it.

put a 19mm socket on the crank bolt and rest the wrench on the subframe. That will keep the crank from turning :thumb:

Those bolts aren't like an axle nut, needing 100+ ft. lbs. of torque. A rag/glove holding the flywheel is enough to torque down the bolts to proper specs. The only problem that would be more difficult is trying to remove the bolts with out an impact.
