tie rods and ball bearing 3rd time

ok this is the thrid time in like 3 months i have to get new tie rods and ball bearings ok why do i hae to keep replacing these things new struts up front. also when i turn clunk when i go side to side the noise comes from the steering

do u need new struts? i know i do. i am gonna get mine from shox.com. great dels. 185$ for a set of 4 KYB Gr2's. when you turn does it make a boat liek noise? if so it is probably your strut bearings. meshohorney replaced his a few weeks ago so u there may be a pic of them and the cost of them. they aren't to expensive at all. i need them also

Get assistance to diagnose the source of the clunk.

Possibilities include the steering colum pinch bolt, inner tie rod ends, the rack, struts/mounts, bushings, etc.

Mine has a clunk that is repeatable. I diagnosed it to an inner tie rod end. A new steering rack is in the garage awaiting installation (the seals in my 200k 89's rack are bad)

One more question on tie rods
Is the gen 2 the same as gen 1? And Does it matter what side is what (driver/passenger) or can you switch?
