This is interesting (might be me) but it seems theres a ticking coming from the top of the motor. If i stick my head on top of the intake it sounds like its coming from where the fuel rails are? really weird.. Hard to diagnose w/out hearing it i suppose but random ideas are always. Sound like taking the end of a pen and tapping it on wood.. hmm

Probably just the fuel injectors doing their job, which in a nutshell is opening and closing faster than all ****.

I hear the same ticking in my car and was told to change the spark plug wires. Since they are the original ones I will change them sometime before spring. I bought a set from www.fordpartsnetwork.com for $134.99. The dealer wanted over $300......like there made of gold or something.

Worst case senario.... You need heads. But it could be that you need to have the valves adjusted.

How loud is it?(very loud, or just like little tapping)

I personaly don't see what good changing the spark plug wires would.
Good Luck

If it is a valve tappet on cylinders 4-6, unscrew the oil fill cap on the front valve cover and listen for a tap. If it gets louder it probably is a valve tappet. Even if it is the injectors, if you have never had a valve gap adjustment, you definitely need one after 124,000 miles.
