I have read quite a few posts about this type of ticking, but never found a post to what it was.
Here is the recap of the problem:
I just replaced the clutch with a clutchmasters stage I clutch (from midwestsho, who was awesome to deal with... thanks Mike ).
When I pull up on the pedal, I get the click, but then I can't get it into gear and when I let out the clutch (in neutral) I get the tick tick tick.
I got under the dash and pushed the clutch in, held the quad with a screwdriver, then pulled the clutch up to gain about 3 clicks. At that point, I can shift into gear, but I have the tick tick tick.
At 6 click (total), there is no more tick, but it feels like the clutch is not disengaging completely. Probably because it isn't.
What do I not understand about adjusting this thing? Where is the happy medium between no tick and fully disengaging clutch? How do I fix this?
Also, what the **** is that ticking exactly?? My father and I have been racking our brains to try to figure out just what it is hoping to lead us to a solution.
TIA)

So today, we pulled the motor (again... getting pretty profficient at it) to remove the tranny for diagnosis. All I can say is I am damn glad I didn't decide to just live with it.

Someone asked me if I properly torqued the PP and used locktite... the correct answer to the torque'ing was- NO!!
The rivits on PP were hitting the insides of the trans case. There was about an 3/32 of an inch gap between the PP and the flywheel :oogle:
So, i torqued the bolts with some new locktite... and will be dropping the motor back in the car (again).
My dad put a socket on the crank bolt and turned the motor after we got the trans back on and VOILA... free spinning.
Hope this helps someone someday.

Good to finally fix the problem at hand, huh? But why would you pull the engine out to take the tranny out?? It's MUCH quicker to pull just the tranny.

Well, had it out this afternoon... all's well. I am a happy SHO owner again.

Lack of experience mostly, we looked at it and didn't see the logic on how to drop the tranny alone. not too bad though, we had the motor out and back in again in about 8 hours between yesterday and today.

Now all I need is a hood and I am ready to rock.
