Ok, i just got finnished replacing my subframe bushings (w/ASB's), 93-95 front spindles, upgraded to 96 brakes, new front & rear pads w/machined rotors at all 4 points (stock rears), new struts/springs all the way around (Monroe Quick struts units), new front lower control arms, new sway bar link kits, new outer tie rod ends, new front strut rods and f&r strut tower braces from Keystone.

Now, anytime I apply the brakes medium to hard there is a thumping from the left? front wheel area that can be felt through the steering wheel and brake pedal? Thumping is rotational and gets slower as the vehicle slows down. I've gone through and retorqued all suspension, brake and steering components but the thump is still there!

ANY IDEAS?? PLEASE HELP! My vehicle hasn't run this smooth in years and this is driving me nuts!

Well, the tires are out since I just rotated them (front to rear) and the noise is still present. I'm begining to think wheel bearing also!?!?
Something else I just thought of is loose fitting front brake pads? The only hardware for the fronts is the little clip that sits in the top part
of the caliper, RIGHT? Or are there shims like those on the rear (which I'm missing) that keep the pads from moving front to rear in the bracket?

Look for shiny spots near the brake area that aren't normally shiny. I think something is hitting something else.

I had this same problem after putting new pads on my 96 brakes.

After tightening this and checking that the thumping went away right after I put the caliper bracket that was on the left side on the right side and vice versa.

Got it figured out! It was the front tires, after all! The fronts were chopped pretty bad so I had my GS put them on the rear. However, he said he still felt it when he roadtested it afterward. I should know better than to trust someone who thinks he's a tech! Thanks, Kevin.
