If it's the cable I'm thinking of, I have had the same problem recently. If you're leaning over on the drivers side fender looking at the throttle body the far right cable is the one that keeps poppimg out. Now mine isn't the cable itself sticking, it's a black tubing thats about 3 to 4 inches long that is supposed to slide inside another black piece that is attached to the bracket right beside the throttle body. Do you follow me? I think that cable is the Throttle valve cable for the tranny, if you indeed have an ATX. Just check it out and if it is the black round, slender tubing, put some glue inside where it is supposed to slide into and shove it in there and let it dry. If that is not your problem, sorry to go on and on. Just trying to help a friend out. :)

There is no choke cable the 2 cables that attatch to the tb are the throttle cable(winds around the spring bracket),and the criuse control cable (right side, snaps into place). It`s sounds like your criuse control cable is sticking.

That is the cruise control cable and I'm betting you have a 1989-1991 model year SHO. I had the same problem and cut away some of the plastic tubing that surrounds the end of the cruise control fitting at the throttle body clip. This was a design problem and was corrected in later years. The clips on the newer designed cruise linkages were also better designed so that they did not come off the throttle cam as easily.
