Throttle linkage question

I have a question concerning the throttle on the '94 and the causes on the stiffness in the accelerator pedal.

The other day when I was toying around I discovered that the other cable (black plastic coated) that connects to the throttle has worn through the plastic and metal is showing. What is this cable, and could it be causing the difficulty I have in pushing the accelerator down? Also, it has an adjustment screw... what if anything, will that do for this issue. I lubed the actual throttle cable and it helped a slight amount, but not much.

I believe that it is the cruise control cable.

Don't mess with the screw.

First you need to determine where the resistance is coming from. Start by disconnecting both the throttle and cruise control cables from the TB and make sure that the throttle plate opens with ease and springs closed properly. If that checks out OK, reconnect just the throttle cable and see if the problem still exists. If it does, you'll need to further determine if it's the cable, or a problem with the pedal itself. If the problem goes away when the cruise cable is disconnected, you'll need to replace that cable, which I'm pretty sure is now obselete and you'll have to rely on finding a used on here or at a junkyard.
