I was cleaning my Throttle Body with brake cleaner and I wore off the protective coating covering the throttle plate. Is this an issue? Also I noticed some casting marks inside the TB. Can I sand those down to be smooth with the rest of the bore? It almost looks like splatter from a machining process.

I wasn't aware of any coating on the brass throttle plate. If you want to clean it up likely won't help much but won't hurt anything either as long as you don't mess up the surface where the plate seals.

there is a sticker on the throttle body where the intake boot goes that says do not use throttle body cleaners. fords have a teflon coating on the inside of the throttle body, the only thing that is safe is spray sea-foam.

I have yet to see such a sticker on any of my SHOs. IMO smoothing out the casting marks and the back side of the throttle plate would be better than any coating that might be there now.

I've seen the stickers on lower mileage (less messed with) cars - I want to say it is under where the rubber boot goes on it.

I would assume it was to prevent carbon build up so that it didn't get sticky over time.

more likely so your eggs don't stick when you fry them inside the tb.

This is the reason; HOWEVER, gunk still builds up. Therefore, spray away!!! Use a good name brand cleaner (B-12 Chemtool, Gumout, etc.) and NOT the .99 cent garbage.

maybe some gas and a brush. sea foam works the best I suppose, read the container it says safe for teflon. here is a sho fuel filter that I replaced, hopefully solves my own problem.
