Hi all,
I am in the middle of doing my 96 brake upgrade, and my caliper brackets won't fit. I got caliper brackets for a 2004 taurus and they are the exact same as the stock ones on my 1994. Therefore, they don't fit over the '96 sho rotors. I got my parts from autozone. The part # are as follows:
brackets 619-104
rotors 54030

I thought about gettin loaded calipers they have listed for the '96 sho, but they are the same part # as for my '94.

I thought the '01+ caliper bracket were the same as the '96 SHO ones?
Was I wrong?

What is the part # that people are getting at Advanced Auto or Autozone that is working, either for loaded calipers (including brackets), or just for the brackets?

Thanks for the help

Jeremy

Here's some information from another thread searching for "fn74" (which is stamped on the caliper bracket you need..you can get it from a 97-99SHO or a conti, or any number of other vehicles in the junk yard. Maybe even a winny?). It's easy to see on the bracket; it's a fairly large casting mark. You might even be able to find a pic on here if you search.

you need 94-95 style Taurus Knuckles

then you need 94+ Taurus Calipers
99 SHO Caliper bracket
99SHO Pad
99 SHO Rotor

and you also need all the hardware off of a 99 SHO, specially the caliper to knuckle mounting bolts.... and caliper to bracket

You can use the calipers from a 00 Taurus

I'm in need of the caliper brakets. If i'm not mistaken the calipers are all the same on the taurus, it's just the caliper brakets that you change so that they will fit over the 96 SHO rotors.

Yeah, I just bought some used ones from a forum memeber. Should have them in a few days. Atleast I can return the wrong ones. Just kinda frustrated...I just need to learn more patience. Was I mistaken that the sticky thread at the top of this forum said that the 02+ brackets from a taurus would work? I may have misunderstood, but if I didn't that probably should be updated to eliminate any confusion. It could be that the parts store has the wrong part #.

all the new caliper brackets you buy from stores are listed wrong in the catalouge, they say for 2001+ taurus or 96-99 SHO but they really aren't them... as you have found out... I've seen this at 4 different auto parts stores.........

really your only luck is at the junkyard or from another forum member.... I don't even think the loaded calipers come with brackets for the Gen3 SHO......

these are hard brackets to come by...

This would be a good example of why we keep these kits in stock. It's so you, our customer, get the right parts the first time.

If you can't find the right ones, please give us a call.

This is why I always search for 97 SHO stuff when I need Gen 3 parts. There is waay too much 95- stuff for the 96 SHO.
