So whenever im sitting still, such as in a drive-through, with the engine running, i can hear a "pop" occasionally. Im not very good with cars, so i have no idea what it is. Its not very loud, but i can still hear it. I guess you could call it a knock noise, or a popping noise. Also, my oil light flickers sometimes at idle after ive been driving awhile. So what do i need to check? ALso, my waterpump is leaking, but i dont think taht has anything to do with it. Thanks guys.

From my experince that means your rod bearings are shot. My '94 did the same, oil light flickering at stop lights, faint knock when next to building. I ignored it and about a month later it cost me the engine(spun a bearing at 70mph) by the time I pulled over safely I had put a rod thru the oil pan and destroyed the cylinder head. When were they changed/if at all? How many miles on car/engine? If I were you I would stop driving it and change the rod bearings out(it might be too late or not it is hard to say w/o knowing how long this has been going on). If you can try to put an oil press. gauge on the car(I HATE dummy lights) and check oil pressure at normal operating temp and it should be for a healthy engine---3.0 [email protected] 40-60psi@2000rpm--- at idle mine are showing 15-23psi and it should NEVER be lower than 10psi or that indicates there is excessive clearence somewhere. Hope this helps
