Try saying alternator ten times fast. HELP!!!! I have this 1992 3.0 litre-5speed. I am having trouble. In trying to loose the adjustable belt wheel, which it won't budge, there is a allen screw that runs inside the housing of the adjustable belt wheel. Do I loosen it or tighten it? I'm in hot water and I don't need a bath.

I replied on the other post. You need to loosen the nut on the pulley itself FIRST and then release the tension with the allen head bolt.

I always loosen the bolt on the pulley itself and then the allen screw is to fine tune the "tightness" of the belt. Loosen it to remove the belt and tighten it to tighten, if that makes sense

Edit: Damn, The other Shawn beat me to it.... :nut:

You have to loosen the bolt in the middle of the pulley before you can loosen or tighten the belt. Once the bolt is loose, then the allen screw will loosen or tighten the belt.

IIRC, i believe the treads on the screw with the allen head are in the opposite direction as normal threads...
