I just got my 95 mtx, it has the premium JBL sound, and the sub was blown, so I took it out and replaced it from one of my other SHOs it worked fine for a while but it was making an odd vibration, everything was tight, and now it sounds just like the original blown one!!! I dont listen to music with TONS of bass, and I never turn the volume up past half. So I thought maybe this one is shot, i took it out and looked and everything was still attached, the sub hadnt torn itself apart, but I decided to put the other sub I had from my other SHO, and it still does the same thing. Is there an adjustment for the sub, other then at the head, like on the amp or anything, that the previous owner could of played with? Im stumped, and I know that my two subs arent bad. Thanks for any help!

sounds like the amp that runs the sub is bad try switching the amp there are two back there. the black one that says jbl runs the highs and the silver one runs the sub.

Actually, it's the other way around, and there's no way to switch em out.

As far as I've been able to figure out (and I've been through three JBL systems), there's no gain or adjustments on the amps. They just recieve signals from the head unit, amplify them and send em along to the speakers. my guess is that your sub amp is fried and either overboosting the **** out of that sub or underdriving it horribly. Too little power will blow a sub quicker than too much power. I'd actually start looking into getting an aftermarket amp and sub...hook up some line-out converters and make some real noise.
