the benefits of a turbo kit(especially remote-turbo-goodness) are this:
fuel economy can increase(when not on it all the time)
merging is easier
onramps are more fun
highways are more fun
the looks you will get are priceless
and its actually fairly cheap to do a low boost setup with a remote style.
Now on to that last comment... Cheap is a relative term when you talk about turbocharging a vehicle. The thing is, that I could complertely copy my entire setup with pretty much everything you would need to do it, minus the tranny or motor being built(fuel system, tuner, exhaust work, piping, hoses, turbo, bov, intercooler and maf) for less than $2,000. With enough extensive searching, I could probably do it for less than 1,500. with enough searching, things can be found used for fairly cheap.
here is my parts/price list
tweecer R/T 400 (used)
turbo 150(used)
fuel pump and injectors 175(used)
intercooler 120 (new)
miscellaneous piping(intake and exhaust), 175(ebay, junkyards, wherever i could find it)
silicone couplers and clamps 100 (all over)
HKS SSQV BOV 325 (used) for low boost setups use a audi, saab, vw or dsm stock BOV, they hold low boost fine and can be had for around 5-10 at a junkyard
lincoln 80mm Maf 20 (junkyard) I have a lightning maf , just not installed yet 45
for what is on my car currently, that's around 1500 with a cheaper BOV, no intercooler(which means less piping, couplers and such),
looking harder, and doing the work myself, I could remote turbo another sho for less than a grand. the problem is, I have no need to do it again. lol
