Do you think it's worth it to rip one off a boneyard SHO and put it in my car??? How much, and how hard are my questions...

I've heard from some that it isn't a good idea to make a non-sunroof car into one.... one being that roof support needs to be established and i guess that's not really aftermarket-ish...... Personally I think you would need to swap the whole roof from all the A B and C pillars..... but i'm not a body shop engineer kinda guy

To do it right is unrealistic price wise. By doing it right you literally cut the roof off a parts car and utilize all the bracing and what not from the donor car. Then you have to run the rubber hoses to ensure drainage. In this day and age it may be cheaper to buy another SHO with a sunroof :p or just learn to live w/out one.

If you want a sunroof, I would not get one from a junkyard. Beside what everyone has said already, the factory sunroof is a 15 year old design. If you are set on having one, get the newest model from Webasto or ASC. Both will have 1 touch open and close, and it will be installed by an authorized installer. I don't think you need to worry as much as you once had to about getting a proper install and having it not leak and rust out. Those concerns had more to do with the aftermarket pop-up sunroofs that were popular addons in the 80s and 90s. Todays roofs are much better quality, I would never add a factory SHO roof unless I already had another reason to cut the existing roof off.

I have an ASC power moonroof that I just removed from my car. $100 plus shipping and its yours. I paid $1500 for it when it was installed around eight or nine years ago. It has had a few routine checkups since to keep it in top operating condition. It always performed flawlessly. It has one touch open/close/vent. It also automatically closes when the ignition is turned off. If you are not interested, no big deal. I will just have it installed in a different car someday.

As far as the difference in structure, a "bar" in the center of the roof needs to be removed. Factory sunroof cars never had this bar.

That is the one thing my green 92 really needs, I miss having a sunroof alot since both other SHO's do, I just personally don't feel it worth it, because it will probably eventually leak and rust with the new designs even.
