If i used the wrong temperature thermostat in my 93 mtx (192 degrees), would that cause my car to overheat when it gets over 85 90 degrees outside when i turn on my a/c. also when i don't have on the a/c it just fluctuates between the middle to the top, but never over heats.

thanks...

It will run more toward the middle of the normal scale than toward the bottom as with the 180 degree 'stat, but it shouldn't allow the engine to overheat. What brand of thermostat did you install and what direction did you install the temperature element portion of the 'stat?

i'm not sure what brand, or the direction i installed it. It was a blind first try at fixing the cooling problem, and i had my friend do it. do you think it could be the temp sender? or could the direction of the thermostat be making it act up like that?
thanks...
