Hey all,

I'm about to replace the thermostat and I know that there are 2 gaskets, 1 for the stat and one for the housing.

Are these it:

Thermostat:
STANT 30988 1-29/32" x 2-5/32" x 17/64" (Grooved, Chamfered I.D.) Heart
Thermostat Seal [Wholesaler Closeout - Private Label Pkg. - 30 Day Warranty]

Housing
VICTOR REINZ C31446 {#E9DZ8590A} Material: Victo-Tech
Thermostat Housing Gasket; Gasket Material: Victo-Tech

Thanks!

If all you are changing is the thermostat then all you need is the rubber seal that fits around the thermostat. Go to the parts store get the Stat and ask for the gasket that goes with it. You do not need to pull the housing if just doing the Stat.

The part number for the housing mounting kit is Felpro ES70426. It can be bought online or at most parts stores.

The part numbers you have listed above are the same part. They are both thermostat gaskets.

I went on Rock Auto and put that Felpro part number in - it's 3 O ring gaskets and 2 other paper type gaskets. Is this all I need, thermostat gasket is in that kit as well?

There is just one seal that you need when changing the thermostat. The correct part is a Felpro 35485. It can be somewhat expensive or hard to find. A Felpro 35278 is very similar and is also said to work by some, however my experience iwith that part number is it worked fine for a few years, but then developed a tiny leak. Don't know if that was due to bad luck, or something else. I replaced it with the 35485.

I recommend the Duralast thermostat for the SHO. It has the jiggle valve, which should be oriented up when installing the thermostat. Be very careful not to over tighten the nuts; spec is 5-8 ft.-lbs.
