I adjusted the dimmer recently and remarked after a ride that the theft light began to flash when I was going to exit the car and press the "lock" door button...

It will flash for about 15 seconds. I tried to lock the doors with the transmitter, same thing. I tried to press 2 times the lock button on the transmitter (to arm the PATS), same thing. Sometime the light stay illuminated (not flashing). The car starts all the times.

Can it be the hood mushroom (sensor) is going away ? Maybe it's normal and I don't saw it before...

Thanks guys,

This was happening to me too a few years ago. I discovered I had a parasitic draw from ICP and after replacing it, the THEFT flashing/constant on went away. Don't know if the two were related. Too bad the AC still doesn't work.

Thanks, even if I rode many things on that car,I still don't know what is the ICP. I thought it can be a door sensor or something related. (?)

Integrated Control Pan\el - aka the "footbal", oval shaped radio/AC control head. The heat sink on the back was hot enough to cook an egg. Is your radio/tape deck/CD player/AC working ok? How's the battery? Might want to just check engine-off amps.

Yes, I remembered last night :S but all is good on this side. I took the 1996 owner book to see what Ford say about this light.

When the light is on, the system indicate that it was pre-armed. The light will stay on 30 sec. to let passengers exit the car. Then the light will start to flash 1 time/sec. and this indicating the system is armed. It will flash until disarmed or triggered by a door. (!) (This light will go on after touching the lock button on the door or transmitter.)

Strange that I never saw this before... Anyway, thanks for the help.

P.S. Not sure it is the same case for other years however.
