Well now that the snow is melting and it's warming up here in IL I thought I should give it a good wash (something the SHO has needed for too long) and finish up my stereo.

I layed the Dynamat and put in the new 6x9s in the rear. I also put in my new subs and new box I had made.

Hey, I have some trunk space now.

New 6x9s that didn't want to fit. I had to cut away some of the aluminum to get them in.
SHO3

And what the ****, cleaned her up might as well.

Sorry for the crappy cell pics, my camera is dead.

Even after all of this, I still have rattling under the trunk which is driving me insane.

It could be the SHO expressing disapproval of $40 HF subs

lolz, my good ones blew. I'm stuck with these until I have enough money laying around to buy more Type Rs.

BTW I got these ones for $28 a piece with free shipping, and for $28 they don't sound all that terrible surprisingly. Hifonics makes great amps so I thought I'd just give these a try.

Yeah, I'm running a cap. My headlights and interior lights dimmed bad with the 2 amps so I finally bought one. I don't have plate rattle because I don't have a frame around my plate.

the positive influence they provide for the system's voltage lasts for a small fraction of a second at a time before drawing energy back out of the system to be recharged.

By small fraction I'm talking a twentieth or thirtieth of a second. In effect, the influence isn't positive at all, but you're certainly not going to get that info from a store rep.

So what would you suggest?Upgraded alt, multiple batteries?I know on my Buick,if I turned the radio up it would dim the lights quite significantly

GM has a rep for a pretty weak alt. Was that the usual 105A?

I had 1500w rms in my old Contour w/a 110A alt and it ran really well. It dimmed a little bit, as I expected, but it wasn't significant.

For a common car like that your best option would probably be a high output alt, primarily because they're not that expensive.

High quality batteries are nice, but I've never seen/read anything about obvious improvements over a decent quality standard battery.

You can also make some wire improvements under the hood to minimize voltage drop - small and/or corroded wiring adds small amts of resistance to the circuit. A lot of current trying to flow through that resistance causes voltage drop. Voltage drop is what causes headlights to dim.
But if the wiring's in decent shape it's not likely you'll see any improvement.
